When does cross-pollination occur

A

Cross-pollination occurs when pollen is transferred from the anther of one flower to the stigma of a flower of a different plant of the same species.

What effect does this have on genetic variation

A

Increases genetic variation due to meiosis forming gametes and random fertilisation of the gametes. Most plants are adapted to encourage cross-pollination and prevent self-pollination.
