ANCHORS
o Anchors are 60,000 lbs each or 30 tons
o Mark II navy stockless
o Chain link weighs 365 lbs
o Anchor and chain are from the USS Ranger CV-61
o There are 12 shots on each chain
o Chain is 1080 ft long
o Each shot is 90 ft or 15 fathoms
o Each fathom is 6 ft
o There are 3 ways to count the shots of a chain:
• Color code is Red-White-Blue
• Number of white links fwd or aft of the detachable link
• Number of wire wraps on the most outboard and inboard white link
o Most forward closed chalk is the bull nose.
o Second to last shot is yellow also known as the “WARNING SHOT”
o Last shot is red also known as the “DANGER SHOT”
2nd Division
Deals with Unrep equipment, the sail loft (canvas and bunting shop), The Ceremonial Quarterdeck and mooring lines 5-8.
The ceremonial Quarterdeck consists of:
•50 state flags •POW flag, Ensign and the navy flag •Old navigational equipment •RR Head •Pic. Boards: President, Staff, Squadron, DH and Dept. LCPO’s •RR Bell •RR Statue Bonus: Standing on the Pres. Seal/40th President

There are 8 unrep stations:
o 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15
o 1,7 and 9 are double probe receiving stations
o 3,5, 11 and 13 are sliding padeyes
o 15 is a single probe sending station
o Station 1 is located in the khaki smoke pit
o Station 7 is located: from HB2 outboard into the weapons handling area, hang a left, G3 office and its ballistic doors to the right.
o Station 9 is located in the officer’s quarterdeck
o Stations 3 and 5 are located in the overhead of HB2.
o Stations 11 and 13 are located on the overhead of HB3.
P&D Line
Is on the flight deck fwd of the island.
•P&D (phone and distance line) is a bridge to bridge communication between ships.
•You will have a flag starting at 0 and stopping at 300 every 20ft.
•Colors go Green, Red, Yellow, Blue, White and back to Green again to continue the color sequence.

The B&A Crane
Stands for Boat and Aircraft Crane. The purpose of the Boat and Aircraft Crane is to on load/off load small boats and aircraft. The main hook’s SWL is 50,000 LBS. The AUX hook’s SWL is 6,750 LBS
Ships key and the stern dock:
The significance of the fantail is the ships key and the stern dock. The ship’s key is used for taking off the ship’s screws. The stern dock is used for liberty launches when we anchor out.

The boat crew consists of 4 personnel and the colors are
Man rope (monkey lines) are:
Used when the boat crew is going down or coming back up.
•Every 18 inches there is a figure 8 knot used for holding onto
•There are 6 lines but 4 are used. The extra 2 are used for the persons in the water.
•The boat crew will put 50% of there weight on these lines at all times while the boat is being lifted and lowered.
•The boat is lowered down by a vest davit-its compact size and ease of operation
