Moped

can be considered a motor vehicle that

Provisional moped licence restrictions
- Minimum age - 16
- Before ridden on road driver must have a provisional moped licence and thereafter take basic training (CBT). Certificate on completion lasts 2years
- Must display “L” plates
- No pillion passengers
Full moped licence restrictions
- Minimum age - 16
- Take basic training (CBT) and gain Certificate on completion lasts 2years
- Pass accompanied rider test
- Disregard “L” plates
- Carry pillion passengers
- Not allowed on motorway
- Provisional motorcycle/scooter entitlement is given provided person has attained 17years
Motorcycle
Is a mechanically propelled vehicle with less than 4 wheels and not exceeding 410g
Provisional motorcycle licence restrictions
- Minimum age - 17
- Before ridden on road driver must under or basic training (CBT). Certificate on completion lasts 2years
- Must display “L” plates
- No pillion passengers
- No motorway
- Take and pass test to gain full licence within 2 years
Full motorcycle licence restrictions
- Minimum age - 19
- The size of motorcycle is restricted for 2 years to 35kw or a power to weight ration of 0.2kw per kg
- Disregard “L” plates
- Carry pillion passengers
- Full moped entitlement is given
- After 2 years can drive motorcycle of unrestricted size
