Immediately following delivery of the head, check for the presence of the umbilical cord around the baby’s neck. If the cord is looped around the neck,
attempt to slip it over the baby’s head.
If the amniotic sac has not broken
immediately tear it and clear it away from the babys nose and mouth
If you are unable to slip the cord over the baby’s head
immediately clamp and cut the cords between the clamps

warm,dry, and lightly flick soles of feet or rub the back
If newborns condition does not improve
insert OPA, ventilate w/o oxygen at rate of 40-60/minutes with the BVM.
If newborn doesn’t respond within 30 seconds, add supplemental oxygen
1st clamp on umbilical cord
8 to 10 inches away from newborn
2nd clamp
3 more inches towards mother
