Fast 2-4 hr before avoid tobacco, ETOH, and caffeine.

Used to diagnose valve disorders and cardiomyopathy
Noninvasive and takes an hour
Client should lie on left side

Angiography

Invasive procedure used to evaluate presence and degree of coronary artery blockage.
Occlusions are identified by injection of contrast media
Assess for iodine/ shellfish allergy
Assess renal function
NPO 8 hr prior

Wash client’s skin to remove oils
Avoid chest hair (may need to be shaved)
