Stop UF, place supine, give saline bolus, monitor BP, inform doctor.
Fistula Infiltration
Stop pump, remove needle, apply pressure, ice pack, re-cannulate elsewhere.
Chest Pain During Dialysis
Stop UF, give oxygen, monitor ECG/BP, inform doctor immediately.
Patient Becomes Unresponsive
Check airway, breathing, pulse; start CPR; call code blue.
No Thrill/Bruit in Fistula
Don’t use it, inform doctor, check for thrombosis, arrange fistulogram.
Hypoglycemia
Stop dialysis, give glucose orally or IV, monitor blood sugar.
Post-Dialysis Bleeding
Apply firm pressure, elevate limb, check coagulation, inform doctor.
Severe Itching
Check for allergy, uremia, phosphorus; give antihistamine as prescribed.
Hepatitis B Positive
Isolate in separate room with dedicated machine; full PPE.
Refuses Dialysis
Explain risks, counsel calmly, inform doctor, document refusal.
Arrives Late
Adjust session as advised, counsel on importance of punctuality.
Eating During Dialysis
Explain risk of hypotension/nausea, discourage heavy meals.

Use pediatric dialyzer/settings, involve parents, give reassurance.
Dementia Patient Pulling Needles
Stay calm, reassure, involve family, restrain only if ordered.

More frequent/longer sessions, close BP & fluid monitoring.
Restless/Anxious
Check vitals, reassure, explain, doctor if unresolved.
Fever/Chills During Dialysis
Pyrogen/sepsis; stop dialysis, cultures, doctor review.
Seizure History
Ensure meds, avoid rapid electrolyte change, emergency drugs ready.
Collapses After Dialysis
Check pulse/BP, oxygen, CPR if no pulse, call doctor.
Faints in Waiting Area
ABC check, flat position, vitals, doctor evaluation.
Arterial Pressure High Alarm
Kink, clot, needle position, access flow.
Venous Pressure Low Alarm
Leak or dislodged needle; clamp line, stop pump, reinsert.
Air Detector Alarm
Stop pump, clamp lines, remove air before resuming.
Blood Leak Alarm
Stop dialysis, don’t return blood, change dialyzer.
