A die cutter is set up which is basically a steel stamp used to cut and shape a net.

Printed nets on flat rectangular sheets of card are fed in to the machine and then the die is pressed on the card

The ‘stamped out’ net is placed on a folding table. Parts of the table move/fold, forming the basic package.
