What is diffraction
The spreading out or bending of wave after passing through a small gap or slit.
Huygen’s wave theory of light
It states that light travels in form of wave and that all the points of the wavefront behaves like secondary source emitting wavelets that are in phase with one another.
Types of diffraction
Frensel diffraction: when the screen and the source are both at finite distance
Fraunhofer diffraction: when the screen and the source are effectively at infinity. In this case lens are used.
