Absence of activity for 24 hrs. Isoelectric relaying 0 activity.
Can precede cardiac death, loss of spinal nerve reflexes
Cardiac death finding
ECG- asystole, pulseless electrical activity, systolic pressure <100mmHg
Fundoscope
Box carring- segmentation of vessel due to lack of flow, sausaging of veins- hyper viscous & swelling of vessels, papilledema- optic nerve bulge doe to increased intracranial pressure
Thermometer
Extremities cool as death approaches, shunting to organs. Following death cools 1.5 F per minute until room temp. Not dead until warm dead- can be revived from hypothermia
