Before sleeping
O Allah, by your name I die and I live
(Bukhari)
Upon waking up
Praise be to Allah, who gave us life after having given us death and to him is our final return
Bukhari, Muslim
When entering the toilet
O Allah I seek your protection from male and female demons
Bukhari, Muslim
After leaving the toilet
O Allah, I seek your forgiveness, praise be to Allah Who relieved me of discomfort and granted me comfort
Ibn Majah
Before beginning wudhu (ablution)
O Allah, forgive me my sins, make spacious my home, and bless my sustenance
Ibnus-Sunni
Forgive me my sins = Feel true repentance
Make spacious my home = refers to the imaan + the heart
Bless my sustenance = whatever I’m given, I’m happy with. Grant us barakah.
After wudhu
I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, Who has no partner; and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger
(Muslim, Abu Dawud)
O Allah, make me of those who return to You often in repentance and make me of those who maintain purity
(Tirmidhi)
This is the kalimah shahadah
Whoever recites this du’a, the 8 doors of paradise will be opened for him. (Muslim, Abu Dawud)
8 doors = heaven
7 doors = hell
If after reciting this du’a you die, you will have died whilst these doors are open and the angels will take you through them
The person who dies with wudhu will enter jannah
You die as a shaheed = Martyr
“O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and established salah, grant
Muhammad a place near to You, an excellence and exalted degree, and raise him to the praiseworthy station that You have promised him.”
“Whoever recites this du’a will gain the intercession of the holy Prophet a on the Day of Judgement.” (Bukhãri)
This is why we must adhere to the sunnah daily and doing durood sharif should be done daily as it makes us closer to prophet SAW
“O Alläh, open for me the doors of Your mercy.”
(Muslim, Abu Däwud)
5 sunnah of entering the masjid:
1. Enter with the right foot
2. Send durood upon SAW
3. Recite this du’a
4. Make the intention of ihtikaaf
5. Perform 2 rakaats of salah = tahayyatul masjid
“O Alläh, I ask of You Your favour.” (Muslim, Abu Dawüd)
3 sunnah of leaving the masjid:
1. leave with the left foot
2. recite the du’a
3. do durood sharif
The masjid is known as the gardens of paradise - we should value the masjid and be well-versed of the importance of it
We should look well + clean when entering
We should contemplate and not disrespect the masjid or the teachers
“In the name of Alläh and with the blessing of Alläh.”
(Mustadrak Hakim)
If one eats without reciting this du’a then shaytan joins you so there is no barakah
“Praise be to Alläh Who fed us and gave us to drink and made us Muslims.”
(Abü Dāwud)
SAW said
“Allah is pleased with a person who eats some food and then praises His for it or who drinks some drink and then praises Him for it.”
“In the name of Alläh, at the beginning of it (the meal) and at the end ofit.”
(Abu Dawüd)
We should recite these duo’s loudly in a crowd to remind others to also recite it
We should eat with 3 gingers, eat all morsels, eat from the side first and then the middle
1/3rd stomach should be full, 1/3rd for water, 1/3rd for breathing
Every crumb wasted will testify against us and question why we didn’t eat when so many starve
REMEMBER:
Don’t waste
Get what you can eat
We lose barakah when we don’t say bismillah
“O Alläh, for You I have fasted and by what (food) You have blessed me with, have I broken it.”
(Abu Dawüd)
“O Alläh, feed those who have fed me and give drink to those who have given me drink.”
(Muslim)
“O Alläh, bless us in it and increase us by it.”
(Tirmidhi)
“O Alläh, I ask of You (to give me) beneficial knowledge, ample provisions and restoration from every illness.”
(Mustadrak Hakim)
“Praise be to Allah Who clothed me in this and gave it to me without any strength and ability on my part.”
Whoever recites this du’a, his past and present sins will be forgiven.”
(Abu Dăwud)
“Praise be to Allah Who clothed me with what covers my nakedness and with that by which I adorn myself in my life.”
(Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)
“In the name of Allah, I depend on Allah, and there is no power (to do good) nor restraint (to avoid evil)
except with Allah.”
When anyone reads this du’a, the angels say to him, “You have been guided and have been saved (from all harms).”
Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi
“O Allah, I beseech You the blessing of entering and leaving. In Allah’s name we enter and in Allah’s name we leave and in Allah, our Lord, we trust.” (Abú Dāwud)
“O Allah! You made my external appearance good, so make me good in morals (too).” (Ahmad)
“May peace be upon you and the mercy of Alläh and His blessings.”
Returning the greeting:
“May peace be upon you also and the mercy of Alläh and His blessings.” (Abü Däwüd, Tirmidhi)
Note:
When one receives the salam of anyone by means of another person, then say the following:
“I entrust Alläh with your religion, your belongings and the result of your deeds.” (Abu Dawüd, Tirmidhi)
In the name of Allah
“Praise be to Allah”
“Exalted is He Who subdued this to us, and we could not have subdued it, verily to our Lord we return.” (43:13)
“God is the greatest”
“Exalted are You (O Alläh) verily I have wronged myself, so forgive me as none but You forgive sins.”
(Abü Däwüd, Tirmidhi)
