The process of creating a visual tracing of the electrical activity of the cells in the heart? What is the tracing called?
Electrocardiography. The tracing is the electrocardiogram, the ECG.
What are the standard limb leads for an ECG? Explain them further.
I, II, and III. Bipolar, with a positive lead perspective on one limb and a negative perspective on another. Normal waveforms are upright in these leads, with lead II often producing the most upright wave forms. Leads form Einthoven’s triangle.
Lead I records magnitude and direction of current flow between the negative lead on the right arm and positive on left arm.
Lead II records activity between negative on the right arm and positive on the left leg.
Lead III records activity between negative lead on left arm and positive on the left leg.
