this prevents:
- ribosomal protein activation (S6 kinase)
- Cyclins (control cell cycle progression)
- cyclin dependent kinases (cdk & elF4F)
- ultimately inhibits cell cycle at G1 preventing S phase –> prevents cell cycle progression
