CFS OPERATION
FAILURE TO EJECT
EMERGENCY OXYGEN FAILS AFTER EJECTION
If breathing is restricted when still attached to seat after ejection:
1. Green Ring – Pull up & aft (several attempts may be required to activate flow)
AUTOMATIC SEPARATION FAILS AFTER EJECTION
ABORT
TYRE FAILURE DURING TAKEOFF/LANDING
If the decision is made to stop:
1. ABORT / continue with landing
If takeoff is continued:
2. Gear & Flaps Position – Maintain
Note:
- Burn down to minimum fuel before landing.
- Land on side of runway corresponding to the good tyre
- Hold wings level as long as possible
- Maintain directional control using rudder, brakes and NSW as required
EFATO
If sufficient runway remains straight ahead and gear is down:
1. Throttle – IDLE, then OFF when appropriate
2. Attempt landing or EJECT
If below forced landing parameters and gear is selected up:
3. EJECT
If above forced landing parameters:
4. Go to FORCED LANDING, Card E-6R or EJECT
ENGINE FIRE
FIRE or signs of fire
Possible symptoms:
- Smoke / Flames
- Engine vibration
- Unusual sounds
- High ITT
- Fluctuating oil temperature, oil pressure or hydraulic pressure
On the ground:
1. Egress, Card E4-R
In the air:
2. Throttle – Min practicable
3. Check for signs of fire
If definite signs of fire and above 10,000ft AMSL:
4. Green Ring – Pull up & aft (several attempts may be required to activate oxygen flow)
5. Altitude – Initiate descent (to achieve below 10,000ft AMSL within 10 mins)
In all events with definite signs of fire:
6. Throttle – OFF
7. FIREWALL SHUTOFF – Remove guard & pull
8. Does engine fire persist?
Yes: EJECT
No: go to PRE-MEDITATED EJECTION, Card E-5 or FORCED LANDING, Card E-6R

EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN
On the ground:
Note: Consider in the event ofFIRE, Prop Strike,CHIP, any serious Ground Emergency or if about to depart the runway.

If >10,000 ft AMSL:

FLAMEOUT / INADVERTENT THROTTLE OFF
Symptoms:
- Loss of thrust
- N1 reducing
- Tq reducing
- ITT reducing
If > 10,000 ft AMS:
1. Green Ring – Pull up & aft (several attempts may be required to activate flow)
2. Altitude – Initiate descent (to achieve below 10,000 ft AMSL within 10 mins)
In all events:
3. Throttle – OFF
WARNING: If on a minimum glide profile to an airfield, consideration should be given to not attempting a relight since relight attempts will result in excessive height loss.
Consider:
4. IMMEDIATE RELIGHT, Card E-9R or PMU NORM RELIGHT, Card E-10R or PMU OFF RELIGHT, Card E-11R
IMMEDIATE
The immediate relight procedure should be used following engine failure at low altitude when thrust requirements are critical, or when time and circumstances do not permit completion of a full relight procedure.
If necessary:
1. EJECT
Otherwise:
2. Throttle – OFF
3. STARTER – AUTO/RESET
When N1 at a minimum of 13%:
4. Throttle – IDLE
WARNING: Movement of throttle above IDLE before N1 stabilizes at approx. 67% will cause an increase in fuel flow which may cause catastrophic engine damage due to severe ITT over-temperature.
5. Engine Indications – Monitor
Note: A relight is unsuccessful if no N1 rise within 5 secs after selection of STARTER or no ITT rise within 10 secs after fuel flow indications.
If relight unsuccessful and time and circumstances permit:
Note: Typically, in excess of1,200 ft will be lost for each attempt.
6. Throttle – OFF, go back to step 3
If relight is unsuccessful and time and circumstances do not permit further relight:

BATTERY AND GENERATOR FAILURE
Symptoms include loss of all electrical displays.
If > 10,000 ft AMSL:

2. Altitude – Initiate descent (to achieve below 10,000 ft AMSL within 10 mins)
In all events:
3. AUX BAT – Confirm ON
4. Land ASAP from flapless approach
Note 1: BFI and V/UHF control head will be powered for approx 30 mins by AUX BAT. Minimise rado transmissions to conserve available battery time.
Note 2: Plan to extend the landing gear using the emergency extension system; if practicable obtain a visual inspection to confirm gear down.
Note 3: Emergency flaps will not be available if the main battery has failed.
Note 4: If flaps extended on the normal system, subsequent loss of power to the BAT BUS will cause flaps to retract.
OBOGS FAIL
