- Engine Fire (Fire, FEVER indications)

- Likely to depart a prepared surface
Memory Aid => don’t CHIP your PROP on a FIRERY SURFACE

Takeoff vs Abort
- Rwy length/ condition, weather, area traffic
- Adequate directional control cannot be maintained or any system affecting the safety of flight is compromised prior to Max Abort Speed, abort the takeoff
Abort
- Below Max Abort Speed and an emergency requiring an Abort
- sound judgement/ decision making
Barrier Engagement
- Eject or Depart prepared surface before engaging
Tire Failure During Takeoff
- Loud popping noise
- yawing motion
- bumpy motion on the ground
- burnt rubber smell
Engine Failure Immediately After Takeoff (Sufficient Rwy Remaining Ahead)
- Total loss in power and rapid reduction in airspeed
- ensure adequate rwy ahead for a full-stop landing before end of rwy
- *TECHNIQUE: if gear handle is already up, this checklist should not be used
Engine Failure in Flight
- depending on airspeed, N1 will indicate 0% within 5 seconds
- Loss of power and airspeed
- Rapid decay of N1, Torque, and ITT
- prop movement toward feather
- Torque indicates 0%
SECONDARY:
- Reduced RPM, rapidly decreasing ITT, lower than normal oil pressure
- GEN, OBOGS FAIL, OIL PX, FUEL PX (GOOF) lights
Airstart if failed engine
Perform only if failure was NOT due to Frozen, Fire or FOD (FFF)
PMU Norm Airstart
- FFF doesn’t apply
- PMU FAIL not illuminated
PMU Off Airstart
- FFF doesn’t apply
- PMU FAIL illuminated
Immediate Airstart
- FFF doesn’t apply
- Engine failure occurs at low altitude and thrust requirement is critical
Uncommanded Power Changes/ Loss of Power
- Uncommanded reduction in Power/ Thrust
- Lower than expected fuel flow
- Uncommanded decrease in N1**
- High RITT
- N1 still greater than 0%
Uncommanded Prop Feather
- Rapid reduction in Np accompanied by high torque **
- Increase in prop noise
- Noticeable loss in thrust
- possible engine/ airframe vibrations
- Possible PMU FAIL light
Prop Sleeve Touchdown
- prop moves toward feather
- Temporary fluctuations in Np, torque increasing, thrust decreasing, and engine vibration ***
- May be accompanied by CHIP
- if rate of RPM exceeds PMU limits, it will go manual mode (dashes displayed by RPM)
Compressor Stalls
- Loud bangs, engine sputtering, and backfires ***
- Abnormal engine noise
- increase in ITT
- decrease in torque and N1
Fire in Flight
- FIRE warning light
- FEVER check***
Smoke and Fume Elimination/ Electrical Fire
- Smoke or fumes in the cockpit from either
• Electrical Fire
• Contamination from the ECS
PMU Failure
- PMU FAIL and PMU STATUS annunciators ***
- possible step change in power
PMU Fault
- PMU STATUS annunciator with NO PMU FAIL
Chip Detector Warning
- CHIP annunciator for possible metal contamination in the oil supply ***
Oil System Malfunction or Low Oil Pressure
Possible indications
- OIL PX (red or yellow)
• if pressure indicates <5psi check OIL TRX circuit breaker, reset if necessary
- Oil pressure fluctuations
- Oil temp out of limits
- Visually confirmed oil leakage
- Both OIL PX (red and yellow) with normal oil pressure indicates an SCU failure***
