What is refraction?
Refraction is the change in direction of a light ray that happens when it travels from one transparent material into another.
What happens during refraction?
The speed of the wave changes as it moves from one medium to another. Its direction also changes unless it’s travelling along the normal.
What is the law of reflection?
The angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection.
Why does refraction happen?
Refraction happens because light waves travel at different speeds in different materials. Light waves travel more slowly in glass than they do in air because when the waves travel from air into a denser material like glass, they travel more slowly and bend towards the normal.
