Q

What are snail and twist

A

Transcription factors that block transcription for E-cadherin. Triggering the transition the mesenchymal phenotype.

Q

What are the stages of EMT in development (in peripheral nervous system)

A
  • Development of peripheral nervous system from neural tube
    ○ Neural tube - tightly bound epithelial cells
  • Epithelial cells form neural crest cells
    ○ Have the ability to migrate
  • These can then migrate to areas to differentiate to form the peripheral nervous system
