NOTE associated with HTR HOT caution
Since the HTR HOT caution will not extinguish until the temperature in the combustion chamber is below 177°C, it may take several attempts at restarting the heater before the HTR HOT caution deactivates.
Caution associated with windshield wipers
To prevent windshield damage, do not operate the windshield wipers when windshields are dry
Caution associated with GROUND CONTACT section
Should either or both GROUND CONTACT indicating lights remain illuminated after lift-off, the associated DASH will not function properly in forward flight. If both GROUND CONTACT indicating lights remain illuminated after lift-off, the AUTO function of both cyclic trims system will be inoperative
Caution associated with windshield (w/s) HEAT switches
If windshield bubbling or delamination occurs around the sensor element, immediately place the w/s HEAT switch to OFF for that windshield
Explain the Pitot Tubes
What records pitot heat position
The CVR/FDR
When does the windshield heat reach operating temperature
1 min
How long should you wait before turning generators off after stopping heater
2 min
What do the MAD vents operate with
The BLWR only
Explain the Heating control panel
Explain the heater fuel drain
Allow any excess fuel to be drained for heater unit
What’s the purpose of the heater cabin thermostat
Senses the cabin temp to maintain cabin temp
Explain the heater exhaust duct
Exhaust gases are discharged through exhaust port
Explain the heater ignition unit
Provides high voltage current for a continuous spark through a single spark plug mounted in the heater unit
Explain the heater fuel control unit
Supplies pressurized fuel to the heater unit through a fuel line to the heater unit
What does the heater unit provide
Provides heat for cold weather operation
What does the air pressure switch do
Protects the heater by shutting down heater system if sufficient air flow is not available for proper heater operation
Purpose of the Avionics cooling thermal switch
Activates the blower if temp in the heater compartment rises above 29°C
Purpose of the heater electrical blower
Draws outside air and recirculates it for heating, ventilating and avionics cooling
Explain the avionics inside air intake port
Cooler air is drawn in from the cabin area through the avionics air intake port for the purpose of avionics component cooling
Explain the heater air intake ducting
Air for system is drawn in from inlet port through the intake ducting
Purpose of the heater control relay box
Contains relays that control the function of the heater and heater HOT caution of the heater system
Purpose of the intake port
Mounted on the airframe on R/H forward upper side of fuselage just aft of pilot’s jettisonable door
Components of heating and ventilation system
