A

Indications:
* Rapid and abnormal rise in PTIT
* May observe flames and black smoke coming from the engine tail
cone

Immediate Actions:
1. ENG COND LEVER - STOP
2. ENG START SW - MOTOR (if high PTIT is
indicated)

RESIDUAL FIRE DURING SHUTDOWN. *
Normally caused by residual fuel igniting in the combustion chamber.

  • Rapid and abnormal rise in PTIT
  • May observe flames and black smoke coming from the engine tail cone

Immediate Actions:
1. EMER ENG SHUTDOWN
2. ENG START SW (affected engine) — MOTOR (if high PTIT is
indicated)

Considerations:
* If high PTIT was indicated, the engine must be motored to decrease PTIT below
260°C.

* Visible flames/smoke coming from engine compartment or

2. APU SW — OFF
3. BATT SW — OFF

A

Indications:
* Illumination of or handle
* Visible flames/smoke coming from engine compartment or fuselage

Immediate Actions:
F 1. ENG FIRE — CONFIRM
2. ENG EMER SHUTDOWN (affected engine) — when conditions permit.
Urgency to Land:
LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Subsequent Actions:
* Close cockpit windows, air control handles, and cockpit knobs
* Execute SMOKE AND FUME ELIMINATION — as required
After Landing:
EMER ENG SHUTDOWN

Electrical Fire – Flight

A

Indications:
* Smell of burning rubber
* Flames or smoke from electrical equipment
Actions:
If a landing as soon as possible cannot be made:
1. A/S — below 100 KCAS or VNE whichever is slower
2. GEN 1 and GEN 2 switches — OFF
3. Close cockpit windows, air control handles, and cockpit knobs
4. Execute SMOKE AND FUME ELIMINATION — as required
After landing:
5. EMER ENG SHUTDOWN
6. BATT switch — OFF

* Possible change in engine sound or vibration

* Increase in TQ on the engaged engine
* Possible droop in NR

1. EXTERNAL CARGO — JETTISON(as required)
2. FLT DIR CPLR — UNCOUPLED
3. DAFCS MODE — OFF

LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE — Not single engine capable
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE — Single engine capable

Considerations:
* ENGINE RESTART DURING FLIGHT may be attempted if no visible damage to the engine is present.
* When operating singe engine for extended periods, the second engine must be motored for 10 seconds every 30
minutes.

Immediate Actions:
(Both AFCS systems must be turned OFF as soon as possible.)
PWR SFER 1 AND 2 SW — ON.

Subsequent Actions:
F 1. MAINTENANCE PANEL — Monitor

Actions:
Electrical Load — Reduce as required.
– Turn off or pull circuit breakers of nonessential circuits
– EAPS ENG1 & ENG 2 FAN Switches — OFF as required
– ANTI-ICE — OFF as required
– Searchlights — OFF as required
