FLAME OUT IN FLIGHT (SYMPTOMS)
ENGINE RELIGHTING IN FLIGHT
Starting selector - Off Fuel pump - On Wait until Ng below 5% then carry out start GOV warning lights - Out Starting selector - FLT (Check that Ng increases) (Check T4 remains below limits) (Check engine oil pressure increases) (Check CWP lights go out - Eng P at 70%) Lower switch guard on starter switch Check CWP GEN light out Fuel Pump push button - Off (Fuel pump blue indicator light - Off) (Fuel P warning light - Off)
NOTE: IF START CYCLE ABORTED RETURN TO START
SMOKE IN CABIN (IDENTIFIED)
Shut off corresponding system If necessary use fire extinguisher Air cabin by opening (Front ventilator) (Ventilation ports) (The bad weather windows) Continue flight depending on system failed
SMOKE IN CABIN NOT IDENTIFIED
Shut off heating and demisting system
If smoke does not clear:
(Switch off the master switch “all off”)
(When smell of smoke has cleared, set all switches off, including the generator and alternator, close the cabin ventilation.)
(Reset battery switch to On)
(Reset Master to normal position)
(Switch on generator, check voltage and current)
(If everything is normal, switch on circuits one by one until malfunction is identified)
NOTE: IF POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM IS FAULTY CARRY OUT PROCEDURE 3.3
TAIL ROTOR DRIVE FAILURES
Loss of tail rotor in power on flight results in a yaw movement to the left; the extent of such rotation will depend on power and speed configuration at the time of failure
FAILURES OF TAIL ROTOR IN HOVER AND LOW SPEED
IGE: Set twist grip to idle detent and cushion landing
OGE: reduce collective pitch momentarily, to reduce yaw torque, and simultaneously start to increase air speed.
TAIL ROTOR FAILURE IN FORWARD FLIGHT
TAIL ROTOR CONTROL FAILURE
WARNING: LANDING IS MADE EASIER WITH A RH COMPONENT. WHEN AIRSPEED IS LESS THAN 20 KNOTS, GO AROUND IS IMPOSSIBLE DUE TO LOSS OF VERTICAL FIN EFFICIENCY.
VEMD (FAILURE OF ONE SCREEN)
VEMD DOUBLE SCREEN FAILURE
Real failure is highly improbable; in practice this case occurs only when the battery and generator have both been selected off.
Select the power setting required for level flight in accordance with the following relationship:
IAS = 100 kt at zero pressure altitude (-2 kt per 1000’)
Land without hovering
VEMD MESSAGES
Must comply with action requested.
FAILURES OF DELTA NG - TORQUE - T4 INDICATORS
In the event of failure of first limitation calculation parameter, the FLI is no longer displayed. The Ng/Delta Ng, torque, t4 indicators are displayed instead.
A failure message is displayed.
VEMD DELTA NG INDICATOR FAILURE
In the event of an indicator failure, do not exceed the maximum authorized torque value, and maintain the t4 temperature value below 810C
Torquemeter failure
In the event of a torquemeter failure, do not allow the engine speed to exceed the Ng limits in following table
DELTA NG AND TORQUEMETER INDICATIONS FAILURE
Governing failure (red GOV warning) can cause loss of Delta Ng and torque indications.
The VEMD switches to 3-parameter mode with only t4 valid and numeric Ng. Comply with the limitations in the above table, substituting the -4 (delta Ng) limit with a t4 limit of 810C
T4 INDICATOR FAILURE
NOTE: IF IN DOUBT CONCERNING THE VALUES OF PARAMETERS TO BE COMPLIED WITH FOLLOWING FAILURE OF ONE OR MORE PARAMETERS, THE “2 SCREEN FAILURE PROCEDURE can always be applied
ABNORMAL NR READINGS
In the event of complete loss of NR indication.
THE NF VALUE CAN BE READ ON THE VEMD SCREEN. PRESS SELECT THEN + R AS MANY TIMES AS REQUIRED TO DISPLAY PARAMETER IN THE RECTANGULAR WINDOW AT THE BOTTOM OF THE FLI OR 3-PARAMETER SCREEN
BLEED VALVE FLAG (ON VEMD)
The bleed valve disappears when the bleed valve closes. The bleed valve is normally open when the engine is shut down, during starting and at low power settings.
If the flag does not disappear at high power settings, the maximum available engine power is reduced, especially in cold weather.
If the flag does not reappear at low power settings, the engine may surge. Avoid sudden changes in power settings.
This failure results in the Amber GOV warning light.
