Trust vs mistrust
Birth to 18months. Learn to trust caregivers for basic needs, forming future trusts in relationships. And mistrust
Autonomy vs shame and doubt
18 months to 3. Learn to assert independence and develop self-control, leading to autonomy, or experience shame.
Initiative vs guilt
3 to 6. Begin to assert power and control through directing play and social interaction, fostering initiative and developing guilt if their efforts are stifled.
Industry vs inferiority
6 to 12. Strive to develop sense of competence and accomplishments by mastering new skills at school and social life.
Identity vs role confusion
