  1. Locate & Operate emergency telephones:
    What are the 3 modes of ops?
A

They are located:
Fwd: SOF , inboard of LES hatch
Aft: EES, aft & outboard of B2 switchboard.

Operation SOP is attached to the devices.
Each one has three (3) separate frequencies and three (3)
modes of operation:
a. T elephone: Voice
b. T elegraph: Morse code
c. Pinger: Ping noise.

A

The switches’ failsafe is ON. If flooding, or damage is
present, they will activate. Typically isolated. Guides
LR5 (rescue vessel) to Upper Escape T ower Hatch.
They’re located on opposing sides of 72-76 Bulkhead:
Fwd: Stbd, outboard of LES hatch
Aft: Portside, outboard of tunnel door

A

CDAU (Carbon Dioxide Absorption Unit) is used to keep
CO2 2 - 2.5%. They house the sofnolime canisters.
They are located:
a. Fwd of aft ACU’s (holds 5 Sofnalime canisters each)
b. Aft of fwd ACU (fwd of stores room), (holds 10
Sofnalime canisters)
There are 550 canisters both fwd and aft.

  1. Locate & Describe oxygen candles:
A

Oxygen Candles, or MPOG (multi-purpose oxygen
generator), are rectangular canisters, opened via a
specialised tool. Extreme precaution - as they reach
500℃. Special metal mesh holders located in TS, AMS1 &
MR. Before use, inspect the Serial number, & white/purple
seal-indicator. There are 96 fwd & aft. Used if oxygen
reaches 18% or below. Use 4 MPOGs simultaneously.
