Answer 1

Decline all gifts unless they are minimal value eg pens.
Report any attempt to give a gift.

On an inheritance tax case you had to decline to alter a valuation downwards - explain what happened

The taxpayer informed me that they were in financial difficulty and had returned a low value If I could accept this they would not have to pay more tax. They implied that if I valued the property lower than market value this would help them. I reminded them of my need to remain impartial and said that I would value the property in line with my inspeciton and market evidence.

Error - you made an error and had to correct an analysed rent. can you tell me about this.

Answer 4

I had analysed the rent at a higher value and needed to revise downwards. I was honest and informed the agent of my error. He said thank you but it did not affect the valuation.
