Non ETOPS ops
A/c must remain within 60mins flying time with 1 eng inop of a desired alternate
ETOPS approval
Operators must get approval to extent beyond the 60mins
Needs to prove that specific engines and systems on specific a/c are reliable, safe and sufficient
Approval is granted and forms part of the AOC
Normal approval allows 180mins
ETOPS ops flight planning
Must be an ETOPS enroute alternate avail
Within approved diversion time
Or
A diversion time based on MEL limitations if there are any
Whichever is the shorter
