Dukkha- suffering

what are the four noble truths?
Dukkha- The fact of suffering, suffering is a necessary attribute of sentient existence
Samudaya- cause of suffering is caused by passions, craving, Tanha, (cause of suffering)
Nirodha- Cessation of suffering or extinction of passion (effect of happiness)
Magga- The path leading tp the extinction of passion (cause of happiness) i.e Eightfold path.
what does Tanha mean?
literally translates as thirst. it means that ‘craving’ is the chief root of suffering and the ever continuing cycle of rebirths. central teaching of buddhism, the second noble truth.
