-decline in traditional agriculture jobs
-globalisation led to the beginning of it becoming a clone town
-improved transport links -> A46 bypass was built connecting Stratford and Cheltenham to Evesham
-suburbanisation began

What was Evesham like from 2000s onwards

A

-suburbanisation continued
-more housing on greenfield land
-increased traffic leading to tensions
-in 2004, 8 countries joined the EU -> freedom of movement to work and live
-segregation -> certain areas such as “Port street” have clusters of immigrants
-decentralisation occurred = “the valley”
-asparagus festival started in 2006 and still occurs
