Epidemiological aspects of establishing and operating animal production units: Aspects of site selection. Isolation. Demands for public, vehicle and animal transport to and from animal production units. Hygiene of operation.
A
selection of the site: - environmental factors, 50-100m from roads etc. - electric and water supply, ventilation
Isolation (fencing): - innside: stables, straw/hey stores etc. - in the fence: gate with disinfection, loading area for animalt transport, milk store, cereals for cereals/feed++ - outside: manure handling area, energy/water supply..
Transport: - internal and external transport preferably separated - wheel disinfection: 6,5 x 3m with 35-40cm deep Sodium-hypochlorite (conc. usually 2-3%) - white and black roads
Animal transport: - new farms can be filled up (criteria) - transport of replacement animals to dairy cattle farms: = free from tuberculosis, brucellosis, leukosis (certificate from vet.) + IBR - Transport of pigs for breeding replacement: = free from Aujeszky, brucellosis, leptospirosi, PRRS - Poultry farm: = with vaccine info, same species/age, Ø infectious dis.
Hygiene of operation: - bio security (continuous checking, educating) - check lists
