a lysozyme is an enzyme. it breaks the chemical bond between NAG and NAM within the backbone of the peptidoglycan molecule. also in the nonspecific immune system
IS it more effective against gram Pos or Gram neg?
It is more effective against Gram+ because the Gram- has an outer layer on the cell wall that blocks the lysozyme from entering the cell (LPS layer)
where is it found in the body?
.found in tears, saliva, breast milk and mucous and certain other secretions of the body. it is significant in defending our eyes against infection.
