Discuss the three-destination doctrine explaining from their view the scriptures uses to “prove” it (2 Pet. 3:12-14 & Rev. 22:10-12); then why this is misreading the Bible, and finally use Scripture to refute it.
- Their view (2 Pet. 3:12-14): They draw a distinction between where the righteous, the holy and the wicked dwell.
* 4. Their view (Rev. 22:10-12): Holy is those that have full salvation and will inherit the new heavens. The righteous are the Christian believers through the ages that will inherit the new earth. The wicked are the lost. - Biblical view (2 Pet. 3:12-14): It’s “wherein” or “in which righteousness dwells”. Its about where Gods righteousness rules & reigns, not “the righteous”
- Biblical view (Rev. 22:10-12): If you don’t quickly become righteous & holy, then they will soon have no choice but to remain filthy & unjust forever… and face the consequences.
Explain the two different views of Church history and use Scripture to explain why one is false.
- “Restoration” view: It was lost then slowly restored to fullness. Believed God only judged them on the light they already had.
- “Remnant” view: There’s always been a faithful people, a true Apostolic church.
- Scriptural refutation: Jesus said the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church (Matt 16:18
