Engine Compartment Fire on the Ground

Answer 1

1. speed control lever - shutoff
2. emergency T-handle (for engine on fire) - pull aft. this shuts off fuel and selects engine compartment for fire extinguisher
   
   • NOTE - is more than one is pulled aft, the fire extinguishing agent will be directed to the engine compartment of the last handle activated.
3. main fire extinguisher switch - main, reserve, if necessary
4. ground crew - alerted

Question 2

Single or Dual Engine Compartment Fire in Flight

Answer 2

1. collective - maintain Nr
2. airspeed - as required for single or dual engine capability
3. pickle - as desired
4. speed control lever - as required (affected engines to shutoff)
5. emergency T-handles - pull aft (affected engines)
   
   • NOTE - if more than one T-handle pulled aft the extinguishing agent will be directed to the last T-handle activated
6. main engine fire extinguishing switch - main, reserve, if necessary
   
   • NOTE - if two bottles were discharged into one engine compartment, the remaining bottle can be discharged into either of the remaining compartments.
7. if fire continues - land immediately
8. if fire extinguishes - land as soon as possible

Question 3

Engine Post Shutdown Fire

Answer 3

Indications - >320C after shutdown

1. speed control lever - shutoff
2. fuel select lever - shutoff
3. emergency starter switch - EMER
4. start button - press

Three Simultaneous Engine Compartment Fires in Flight

Answer 4

1. Land Immediately

APP or Cabin Heater Fire

Answer 5

1. APP emergency t-handle - pull aft (to discharge fire extinguisher and shutoff APP and heater fuel)
2. if fire persists - land immediately

Cabin Fire in Flight

Answer 6

1. air to air refueling and fuel transfer operations - secure
   
   • NOTE - securing the tank select pushbuttons on the fuel control panel or securing the master refuel power switch does not remove pressure from the fuel or transfer lines
2. fuel purge - off
3. cockpit circular vents - closed
4. vent fan switch - off
5. SEA bottles - as required
   
   • NOTE - SEA provide 1-3 minutes of operation
6. if fire persists - land immediately
7. emergency shutdown - perform
   * if fire goes out
8. perform smoke and fume elimination
9. land as soon as possible

Cabin Fire on the Ground

Answer 7

1. all pressure refueling and fuel transfer operations - secure
   
   • NOTE - securing the tank select pushbutton on the fuel control or securing the master power switch does not remove pressure from the fuel or transfer lines
2. fuel purge - off
3. emergency shutdown - perform

Electrical Fire

Answer 8

1. communicate extent and location of fire
2. circuit breaker (for affected circuit) - pull
3. fight fire with portable fire extinguisher
4. if fire persists - land immediately

Hydraulic Fire in Main Rotor Pylon

Answer 9

Indications - most likely to occur during taxi, hover, low airspeed operations. White smoke, flight control components may rapidly disintegrate due to heat.

 *NOTE - two additional fire detector sensors are installed in aft section of main transmission and pylon area to detect fire in vicinity of rotor brake/no2 engine

1. Land immediately
   
   • NOTE - running landing to maintain airflow throughout the pylon area
2. Perform emergency shutdown procedure
   
   • WARNING - delay in shutting down may give fire time to burn through flight control components
3. Portable fire extinguisher - use

Smoke and Fume Elimination

1. Vent fan - on

2. Register and diffusers - open

No2 Engine Overheat

Answer 11

Indications - when compartment rises above 575 signal is sent to illuminate caution light

 *NOTE - caution light may illuminate for a short time during restart of engine. Monitor for hot and hung.
