For APU:
One sensing element in the APU compartment

• one smoke detector in the air extraction duct of the avionics ventilation system
• 6 smoke detector in the cargo compartment (10 on A321 Neo)

How is the cargo smoke detection system trigger the smoke warning ?

Answer 4

Each detector is linked to one of two detection loops.
The alert will trigger when both smoke detectors detect smoke or if one is inop when only the working one detect smoke.

Explain the cargo fire extinguishing system

Answer 5

One fire bottle with two discharge heads, one for each compartment which supplies three nozzles.
1 for the FWD and 2 for the AFT.
