Q

What are purpose of spoilers

A

1 - Ground spoiler
2 - Roll spoiler - flaps not at 0° and deflection of control horn 30°
3 - Speed brake - only with flaps at 0° (up)

Q

Do speed brakes work with flaps deployed?

A

No
will not extend with flaps beyond 0°
if they are out when you command flaps beyond 0° the spoilers will stow

Q

Describe the flap system

A

Four positions

Four panels

trailing edge fowler flaps

mechanically actuated with jackscrews

powered by DC electric motor

FCE (flight control electronics) operates the PDU (power delivery unit) driving 6 flexible shafts to operate the flap actuators

Q

Describe spring loaded rudder booster system (SLRB)

A

provides force assistance to the pilot in the rudder control system incase of thrust asymmetry.

commanded by FADEC during asymmetric thrust

Q

What system other than the YD prevents Dutch roll?

A

Ventral rudder control (VRC)

acts as a transparent yaw damper

starts at 60 kts ends at YD engagement (enters streamlining mode)
and begins again with YD turned off

Q

Describe the elevator system

A

pair of elevator surfaces
-25° (pitch up) to +15° (pitch down)
cables connecting to torque tubes

elevator tab mechanism (automatic deflection when elevator surface moves)

17
Q

What happens when YD off

A

Yaw damper turns on
Ventral rudder turns on
