3) Two life vests for Flight Deck Jumpseat Observers are located in the smoke goggle storage compartment (placarded with a depiction of a life vest)
above the flight deck coat closet.

1) Look through door to verify PBE is present with two unbroken seals and the Replace By date has not passed.
• If one seal is broken, PBE is usable.
• If both seals are broken, open the door and partially remove the PBE to check the indicator dot on the pouch. (Blue indicates usable, and pink indicates the unit is usable for 36 hours from time of discovery
and must be replaced.)
• If one or both seals are broken, refer to the MEL for relief.

1) The right ignition is used to start the engines on the first flight of the day in that aircraft. Alternate left and right on subsequent flights.
Note: Unless otherwise directed by an MEL procedure or limitation, set the ignition select switch to BOTH before starting the engines if all the following conditions exist:

• Airport elevation at or above 2,000 ft MSL
• Temperature below 5°C/41°F
