5
Q

Why is heading indicator more relatable then compass

A

Compass has many errors due to magnetic dip, head indicator doesn’t work with magnet so it doesn’t have those errors

6
Q

How does the pitot static system work

A

The pressure from the ram air going into the pitot tube and air from static port gets measured and moves dials / gimbals accordingly

Q

What are the rules when flying low to high pressure

A

Low to high, high in the sky. You are actually higher then altimeter is reading

14
Q

What is compass deviation

A

When the materials in aircraft affects the way the compass reads, we use complains deviation card in cockpit to correct for this

15
Q

Due to magnetic dip when flying a north or south heading, what happens

A

Compass doesn’t read accurate so make sure you undershoot north and overshoot south when turning

16
Q

Does temperature affect compass readings?

A

Yes, when weather is hot, the air expands which can lead you to be higher and when air is cold pressure decreases, which leaves you lower

17
Q

Is there anyway to correct for temperature regarding a compass?

A

No, just give yourself a little bit of extra room, depending on the weather

18
Q

What’s a PFD

A

The primary flight display a glass carpet display all of your instruments

19
Q

What is an MFD

A

It’s a back up PFD can be used if it fails, but also shows things like traffic, weather and charts
