Visual approach requirements

A
  • ceiling at least 1500’ AGL, and visibility min 5 sm (see note below);
  • must report airport in sight (except U.S. > see note);
  • maintain VMC;
  • maintain visual sep from traffic instructed to follow;
  • use and display any available navaids for intended landing runway, to assist in maintaining flight path;
  • not below 1000 feet AAE until established on the appropriate Visual Approach profile to the runway of intended landing.

Notes: Specific weather minima on charted visuals and VGAs supersede the general rule
even if they are lower than 1500’ / 5 sm.

In the U.S., may accept Visual without the airport in sight, as long as preceding traffic instructed to follow, or a charted visual landmark, is reported in sight
