How do we calculate the acceleration using a velocity time graph?

• Gradient of velocity time graph= tells us acceleration of object.
• Horizontal Line: Constant velocity.
• Upwards sloping line: Acceleration.
• Downwards sloping line: Decceleration.
• Acceleration= Final Velocity - initial velocity/ time.

How do we find the distance travelled in a spefic direction by using an velocity time graph?

• Total area under the graph

Constant acceleration or decelleration: divide graph into shapes and find area.

Question 5

How do we find the distance in a given direction if the acceleration is not constant?

Answer 5

• Count whole squares.
• Count an approximate for half squares and add them on.
• Find the area of one sqaure and times by number of squares.
