Straight spur
Traditional gear. 2 gears touching each other. One gear turns the other in the opposite direction
Bevel
Two gears that operate around a 90° angle, gears are a frustum shape and teeth are on the curved side
Rack and pinion
A regular gear with a straight “rack” touching it that has teeth on one side
Worm
A regular gear touching a rod with a single spiral shaped tooth that twists in a fashion similar to a screw
