What’s the 2nd order of the sentry?
To walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on alert and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing.
What’s the 3rd order of the sentry?
To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce.
What’s the 4th order of the sentry?
To repeat all calls from any posts more distant from the guard house than my own
What’s the 5th order of the sentry?
To quit my post only when properly relieved.
What’s the 6th order of the sentry?
To receive, obey, and pass on to the sentry who relieves of all orders from the Commanding Officer, Command Duty Officer, Officer of the Deck, and Officers and Petty Officers of the Watch only
What’s the 7th order of the sentry?
To talk to no one except in the line of duty
What’s the 8th order of the sentry?
To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder
What’s the 9th order of the sentry?
To call the officer of the deck in any case not covered by instructions
What’s the 10th order of the sentry?
To salute all officers and all colors and standards not cased
What’s the 11th order of the sentry?
To be especially watchful at night and, during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post, and to allow no one to pass without proper authority.
