Change in allele frequency happens by chance (not natural selection). More likely to occur in smaller populations.

A few individuals may produce more offspring than survive (by chance) especially when selection pressures are not strong.

Their alleles are passed on and increase in the population.

Genetic drift is more likely to occur in island populations and therefore there is more interbreeding.

This decreases the gene pool. As it is a small population, over generations only one allele of a gene may be present.
