What does ‘GFRC’ stand for?
Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete
What is GFRC made of?
It is made from Portland cement, sand, glass-fibres and water. The glass-fibres add tensile strength.
Important dimensions to note:
1/2” to 3/4” thick panel with light gauge steel backup frame; the frame is anchored to the building frame.
The skin is hung +/- 2” from the face of the frame with anchors that allow for differential movement between the skin and the frame but are rigid enough to transfer wind loads.
How are GFRCs mounted on walls?
The GFRC skin has a flex anchor embedded into a bonding pad. There is a 2” min. gap between the frame and the skin. The anchor is welded to a frame member.
