How would you measure success?
What did you learn from this exercise?
What would you different?
If I had more time to work on this I would have love to think about how this would work on the shelter end to come up with the second half of the solution. I guess now that I think about it I would have also elaborated more on what the user profile would look like and what kind of information could be potentially seen in this dashboard.
I would have also put more thought into how the mobile experience could’ve worked and for instance think of a flow where people can submit the applications from their phone while at the shelter.
What kind of data would you use to re-iterate on this first pass later on?
I would look at how many people are accurately being matched with a pet, wether applications are being submitted online or not or if people are taking advantage of the main features like the appointment maker etc..
What does Google get out of this?
Google gets to pioneer in a space that is lacking the integration of technology and address a cause that involves actual animal lives. Google also gets to drive business by partnering with shelters as well as small businesses and gather meaningful data for targeted advertising but also research purposes.
Google also gets to be the reliable platform that people can go to instead of having to browse multiple websites.
Why did you decide to make Desktop screens vs. Mobile?
I felt that by showing this on desktop screen it would be more clear that I am not building an app, and I’m sure there would be as many users on mobile if not more vs. desktop but If I have to design for both I like to start with desktop first.
