List the ways you can expand on the opening melodic idea?

1. Diatonic Sequence - start on a different note and repeat sequence
2. Inverted Sequence - Same rhythm but opposite direction of melody
3. Rhythmic Imitation - Isolate and reuse the most characteristic bit of the opening rhythm - for example one whole bar of just that rhythm
4. Retrograde Rhythm - reverse the rhythm but watch out for creating unwanted syncopation with dotted notes
5. Swapped Rhythm - swap the rhythm within a bar, avoids syncopation with dotted note
6. Augment and Diminution - Double or half the note values, good for middle section to contrast in mood but keep rhythm connection
7. Reuse an uncommon interval - reuse it if its in opening
