Why does light refract as it passes from air into glass?

A

glass is more dense than air
so speed of light in glass is lower than in air
so as the edge of the wave enters the glass, the speed of the wave slows down
but the rest of the wave is still in air and travels at a higher speed (causing a change in direction)
