What is the Haber Process?
The industrial production of ammonia from nitrogen and hydrogen
What is needed for the Haber Process?
Temperature: 450°C
Pressure: 200 atm
Catalyst: Iron (Fe)
Why is the Haber process important?
Because the ammonia produces is used for nitrogen based fertilisers (which allows all of the food we need to grow)
Where is Nitrogen taken from for the Haber Process?
Easy to acquire - taken from the air (78%)
Where is the Hydrogen for the Haber Process taken from?
Trickier to acquire: made from hydrocarbons (like methane)
