  • Indication: Pi syndrome due to ST/intestine dysharmony - underlying SP/ST xu allows cold to sink deeper resulting in qi stagnation then heat causing clumping (heat/cold constraint)
  • Sx: Epigastric focal distention, fullness/tightmess with little or no pain, dry heaves or frank vomiting, borborygmi w/ diarrhea and reduced appetite
  • Fx: Harmonize ST, guide rebellious qi down, disperse clumping, eliminate distention
  • T: Thin, yellow, greasy coating
  • P: Wiry, rapid
  • Ingredients:
    Ban Xia (King) 12g - descends rebellious qi
    Huang Lian 3g - descends MJ
    Huang Qin 9g - descends UJ
    Gan Jiang 9g
    Ren Shen 9g
    Da Zao 4pcs
    Zhi Gan Cao 9g
  • Xiao Chai Hu Tang w/o Chai Hu + Huang Lian and Sheng Jiang instead of Gan Jiang

  • Indication: 1) Pi syndrome due to ST cold accumulation 2) Hu Huo - fox delusion syndrome
  • Sx: 1) epigastric focal distention, fullness/tightness, dry heaves/nausea, loud borborygmi, diarrhea w/ indigestive food in stool and irritability 2) throat or oral white mucous
  • Fx: tonify the qi to harmonize ST, dissapate clumping, stop nausea
  • T: Pale w/ yellow, greasy coating
  • P: Wiry, rapid w/o force

    Huang Qin 9g
    Gan Jiang 9g
    Ban Xia 12g

  • same ingredients as Ban Xie Xie Xin Tang w/ increased dose of Zhi Gan Cao (12g instead of 9g)
