What are the criteria for SIRS?
Any 2 of:
- Temp over 38 or less than 36
- RR over 20bpm
- HR over 90bpm
- WCC over 12 or less than 4

Encapsulated (pneumococcus, HiB, meningococcus, klebsiella)

Define febrile neutropaenia
Single oral temp of 38.3 or a temp 38.0 over several hours
Neutrophils less than 1.0
What level defines severe neutrophilia?
Less than 0.5
Define severe sepsis
Sepsis + hypoperfusion (hypotension, oliguria, confusion, acidosis)
Define septic shock
Sepsis with refractory hypoperfusion (ie fluids don’t correct hypotension, oliguria, confusion, acidosis)
What is the one ABx you really shouldn’t mix with alcohol?
Metronidazole (Nausea and vomiting +++)
