Layers of normal arterial wall
Tunica intima, media and adventitia
Elastic arteries
Closer to the heart and have more elastin in tunica media to withstand pressure and exert elastic recoil
Muscular arteries
Further away from heart, have more muscle in tunica media to be able to vasoconstrict and vasodilate
Arterioles
Have less than 3 smooth muscle layers in tunica media
Site of maximum TPR (total peripheral resistance)
Arterioles
