Results:
* All dog PCR positive for Babesia,
* 100% thrombocytopenic 85% regenerative anaemia,
* ALT increased in 37%, ALP in 70% and TBil in 85%
* All dogs had splenomegaly
* All dogs treated with imidocarb
* Follow up PCR in 19/35 dogs negative after 1st inejection
* Frequent association with SIRS and cardiac abnormalities
* 85% (39/49) dogs survived
Conclusion: B canis in Berlin area is associated with severe clinicopathologic changes, SIRS and multi organ involvement
