Installing a Single-Phase Meter

for damaged clips, loose screws, foreign matter, broken parts

Test the tester on a known live source

6. Find the neutral

Continuity test
- phase to ground should be no light
-neutral to ground should light
-phase to ground should be no light

7. Test meter fitting for proper voltage

Test 1 - source voltage - line side to neutral should be 120V, then line side to line side should read 240V
Test 2 - backfeed - load side terminals to ground source, should read 0 volts
Test 3 - load side - phase to ground fault, test from line to load side, should read 0 volts
** verify continuity of jumper if applicable
Test 4 - load side - phase to phase fault, install jumper from one load side to neutral, then test from line to load side, should read 0 volts. Remove temporary jumper.

• Take care to keep meter straight
• Press line side prongs into the line side clips firmly
• Keep meter straight
