How to insert central line
1. Use US to find the vein. 2. Insert the needle & syringe 3. Hold needle stll and remove the syringe. 4. feed wire through the needle 5. remove the needle over the wire 6. use scalpel to make insision where wire enters 7. Feed dilator through skin 8. then remove dilator and advance the central line to around 12 cm in 9. Stitch it into place 10. Secure with dressing.

How to insert chest drain
1. No need for USS here, just go within the safe triangle and above a rib to avoid damage to the neurovascular bundle and inject local anaesthetic 2. Insert the needle & syringe 3. Hold needle stll and remove the syringe. 4. feed wire through the needle 5. remove the needle over the wire 6. use scalpel to make insision where wire enters 7. Feed dilator through skin 8. then remove dilator and advance the chest drain into the chest (5-10cm) 9. Stitch it into place 10. Secure with dressing.
