Early warning system
quarterly reports to the prosecutor
annually release to the public
* notify in writing complainant and/or officer of outcome
Immediate suspension
unfit for duty
hazard to any person
maintain safety of public
charged with 1, 2 or 3 degree crimes
or charged with any crime while on duty unless PDP
* such as an officer reporting to work under the influence/ suspended and provided with a written statement of actions taken/ executive notified immediately
Filing of charges
must be filed within 45 days of the date the person filing the charge obtained sufficient info
*disciplinary report should be removed 6 months after reprimand or notice
Retention Schedule
criminal homicide permanently maintained
criminal matter resulting in arrest of officer 75 yrs
all others career of officer plus 5 years
IA info released only if:
all discoverable material shall be provided to the officer and hearing officer
IA invest reports may be released to the attorney representing the officer
request of prosecutor or attorney general
upon a court order

detect patterns and trends before the conduct escalates
